Tsunami 2004–2005

2004 – 2006

In 2004, Nim watched endless news reports come in about the devastation wreaked by the Indian Ocean tsunami. She observed homes being destroyed and people being stranded, but she also listened to accounts of the immense heights of human compassion that can only be reached in the wake of a disaster. A few years after Tsunami was completed, Nim fell debilitatingly ill; she would no longer be able to make art with the same vigour as she used to. Tsunami, the series of black waves rising and crashing down, was her last major series of works before the ebbing of her own tide.
